Graveside services for Sam Brown will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Indianola Memorial Garden Cemetery in Indianola.

Mr. Brown, 79, died on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at his residence in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

He was born Oct. 22, 1940, in Kemper County to Walter and Margaret Cecelia Misso Brown. He attended school in Wahalak and was a retired towboat pilot after 40 years of service. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Carroll County. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Brown.

He is survived by his daughter, Dana Skipworth of Pearl; two sisters, Teresia Cunningham of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Betty Deweese of Salt Lake City; two brothers, William Gilliland of Gulfport and Jackie Gilliland of El Paso, Texas; and six grandchildren, Ashley Warren, Trey Bailey, Michael Bailey, Taylor Everett, Tyler Skipworth and Christopher Skipworth.

The Rev. Sam Waterman will officiate the services.
