CULLMAN, Ala. — A memorial service for James Carl Horne of Cullman, Alabama, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at West President Church of Christ in Greenwood. 

Mr. Horne, 92, died Monday, May 6, 2019, at Cullman Long Term Care.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II and Korea and participated in the Bikini Atoll atomic test. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dewey Horne and Jessie Spiers Horne; his first wife, Mary Sweeney Horne; two brothers, James David Horne and William Butch Horne; and two sisters, Louise Alred and Clydia Cartwright. 

He is survived by his wife, Jean Horne; six children, James Carl (Wanda) Horne Jr., Richard (Debbie) Dotts, Joan Martz, Barbara Clark, Shannon (Connie) Minga and Denatte Edgar; four sisters, Richie Page, Winnie Mae Stuckey, Thelma Williamson and Joyce Merritt; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 

Mike Schmitz will officiate at the services.

Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fletcher's Chapel Cemetery Fund at 5711 Fletcher’s Chapel Road, Yazoo City, MS 39194.
