On Tuesday, June 4, 2019, Floy Anne Peeples Poe, adoring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died at the age of 83.

She was born July 26, 1935, and is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Bertha Love Peeples Sampson; her father, Floyd Archie Peeples; and her husband, Douglas Eugene Poe.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth Poe Elliott of Greenwood; her grandchildren, Katey Deaton of Pensacola, Florida, Ginny (Will) Manning of Pass Christian and Morgan Elliott of Fort Collins, Colorado; and her great-grandchildren, Emma Deaton, Abbey Deaton and Elliott Manning.

Whether you knew her from Leflore Bank, the Sidon Post Office or as a staple behind the counter at The Ramada Inn in Greenwood, she was known as Ms. Poe, Ms. Anne, or most affectionately, as Mammaw. She loved bluebirds, Chanel No. 5, and all things sweet.

Mammaw loved unconditionally and without reservations. She listened, and she cared.

Though the world may be dimmer with the passing of Ms. Anne Poe, the light of her love is embedded in our hearts and will help us see, until we meet again.

At the wishes of Ms. Poe, there will be no service. She donated her body to science in hopes that the research could some day save others’ lives.
