Mr. Roy Garrett, 88, also known as “The Radio Man,” passed away at his home Thursday, May 9, 2019.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home Chapel (1008 Sgt. John Pittman Drive) with the Rev. Randy Clayton and the Rev. Perry Irvin officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

A native of Gunnison, Roy had spent most of his life in Greenwood. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For 50 years he owned and operated Garrett’s Radio Service. Roy was also a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Pinkney Garrett and Crela Grant Garrett; a brother, Howard Lee Garrett; and a sister, Marie Garrett Wall.

Roy is survived by his wife, Shirley White Garrett; two sons, James Tony Garrett of Greenwood and Cam Garrett of Memphis; a brother, Johnny Garrett of Carrollton; and two grandchildren, John England Garrett and Drew Williams Garrett both of Germantown, Tennessee.
