Stephen Earl Staten, 69, passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019, at his home in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Delta Funeral Home, with interment in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery near Holcomb. The Rev. Dennis Gossett will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Steve was born Aug. 17, 1949, in Starkville to Nancy and Lee Staten of Stuttgart, Arkansas, and was a graduate of Mississippi State University. He had lived in Memphis, Stuttgart and Dallas before settling in Little Rock, where he spent the past 25 years. He was an avid reader who never met a stranger. He was also a retired business manager.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Michele Ives of Wheatley, Arkansas; two brothers, Bob Staten and his wife, Lynn, of Little Rock and Craig Staten of Lexington; six nieces and nephews, Jennifer Baugh (Chris), Jacqueline Fowler, Clint Butcher (Machelle), Brooke Bryan (Cory), Robert Staten and Parker Staten; and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Clint Butcher, Robert Staten, Parker Staten, Cory Bryan, Bobby Wofford and Chris Baugh, Mike Cooper will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.
