Services for Eugene “Sonny” Duke of Greenwood will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sycamore Street Church of Christ.
Mr. Duke, 76, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
Mr. Duke was a longtime member of Sycamore Street Church of Christ, where he served as a member of the finance committee and the boys youth ministry, chair of the benevolence committee and chair and van driver of the transportation committee. He worked for Apex Construction for 25 years and retired from the Greenwood Public Works Department after 15 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Duke of Greenwood; three daughters, Jacqueline R. Mason of Walls, Phyllis R. Hughes of Greenwood and Gail Lynch of Meridian; three sons, Tony Duke, Michael Duke and Dana Duke, all of Elkhart, Indiana; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at Century Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Dr. Montrell Greene will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Courtney Lynch, Colby Lynch, Jesse Hughes Jr., Vance Ratliff Jr., Rashad Hammond and Phillip Green III.
Honorary pallbearers will be Vance Ratliff Sr., Tony Duke, Michael Duke, Dana Duke, Jesse Hughes Sr., Oscar Mason Jr. and Edward Lynch.
Burial will be in Hemingway Cemetery in Carroll County.
