Services for Jimmy Guest will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Minter City United Methodist Church.

Mr. Guest, 74, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019.

Jimmy was born Nov. 20, 1944, to Jacqueline “Kitty” Beck Guest and Herman Robert Guest Sr. in Greenwood. He graduated from Drew High School in 1962, attended Mississippi Delta Junior College, joined the Mississippi National Guard, and later returned to college at Mississippi State. He was a farmer for 52 years and a member of Minter City United Methodist Church since 1972.

Jimmy served as president of the Strider Academy School Board and Touchdown Club, as well as chairman of the Minter City United Methodist Church Board of Trustees. He loved the outdoors and was an avid duck hunter, turkey hunter and fisherman. Jimmy was a family man who supported his community and enjoyed tinkering on the family Ford Bronco.

He is predeceased by his parents; a brother, Sammy Drake Guest; a sister, Margott Ann Cummins; and a grandson, Will Guest.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jackie Clark Guest; a son, Bo (Mandy) Guest; two daughters, Dana Guest and Marsha (Chris) Goss; a brother, Robert (Joy) Guest; two grandsons, Billy Lusk and Lane Goss; granddaughters Jayme Lusk (Matt) Counts, Mary Cecil Kimbrell, Anna Davis Kimbrell, Landon Guest, Georgia Guest and Layney Goss; great-granddaughter Etta Grace Counts; and a host of nieces of nephews.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the church. The Rev. Sam Dodd and the Rev. Sara Miller will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Sid McAtee, Brad Clark, Jacob Clark, Jody Cummins, Billy Lusk and Matt Counts. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows East Cemetery.
