Nichole Henry has joined the Commonwealth in a new position it has created of digital marketing director.
The Greenwood native will concentrate on generating revenue from the newspaper’s website and other online offerings, such as email marketing.
“We’re really happy to have Nichole join us and help us maximize the potential we see in a growing part of our business,” said Editor and Publisher Tim Kalich.
The Commonwealth’s website, gwcommonwealth
.com, has experienced steady growth since being launched in 2000, but the traffic has skyrocketed in the past year.
Visitor counts have almost doubled. For the past 12 months, the site has averaged nearly 52,000 “unique visitors” a month, viewing some 413,000 pages. Unique visitors are viewers who come to the site at least once a month.
“We’ve been contemplating for the past couple of years about devoting one person in our advertising department strictly to online sales,” Kalich said. “We think we’ve reached the point where it makes sense to do that.”
Henry will also be involved in promoting online subscriptions.
The 30-year-old has worked previously in the retail, restaurant and cosmetology fields. She is an active member of Greenwood Little Theatre and presently serves as its president.
She is a graduate of Pillow Academy and attended Mississippi Delta Community College.
“I’m very excited about getting the Delta’s businesses and their owners the attention they deserve,” Henry said.
