GREENVILLE — Services for Omie Peeples Smith of Greenville will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood.

Mrs. Smith, 96, died of heart failure Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Mississippi Care Center in Greenville.

She was born in Webster County on Oct. 13, 1913 to the late William M. and Lula Jane Green Peeples. She was raised in Leflore County and had resided in Greenville the past 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Itta Bena and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William David Smith, and a son, William Douglas Smith.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Wilna Myers of Greenville and Jane Rogers of Magnolia, Ark.; two sons, Wayne A. Smith of Portland, Ore., and Glenn Smith of Corinth; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The Rev. Higdon Herrington will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Charles Reed, Richard Reed, Henry Starnes, Hoppy Peeples, Richard Wayne Peeples and Dennis Smith.

Burial will be in Itta Bena Cemetery.
