Nurses hone skills

Greenwood Leflore Hospital’s carnival-themed skills fair for its nursing staff began Thursday and will continue Friday. Brenda Deaton, a nurse educator, said the point of the fair is to “help nursing staff stay up to date on their skills” by creating a fun atmosphere. On Thursday, nurses were tested on skills such as proper hand washing and preventing patients from falling. The fair also included an “escape room,” where nurses had to identify all the things wrong with a mannequin patient within 15 minutes. Food and prizes were also available.
