Stay cool

Gavin Maliska

Jordan Meeks pulls off a flip with a twist Tuesday afternoon as Anzley Hammons, obscured, and Owen Farmer await their turns at Twin Rivers Recreation on West Barton Avenue. The boys kept cool on a day that posted the highest temperature of 2019 at 96 degrees. The heat index was at 107 degrees when this impromptu diving board competition took place. Another heat advisory has been posted from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday. The National Weather Service advises the risk for heat-related illness will be elevated across the Delta. It suggests people take precautions to avoid heat stress and check on those vulnerable to heat.
