Changes at church

Terrie Dodd of Lloyd G. Oliphant & Sons painters, foreground, rolls on a coat of paint to the ceiling of a nearly empty sanctuary at the First Presbyterian Church at Main and Washington streets. Major renovations of the sanctuary are underway, including installing new wiring and LED lighting, painting, replacing the backs and adding built-in cushions on all the wooden pews, reconfiguring the pews to allow more room and wheelchair accessability, and refinishing the floor. Renovations of the nearly 100-year-old building are being funded through gifts from members of the congregation. While work is being done, services have been moved across Main Street to Shuler Hall.
