Winter storm
A winter storm, which started Sunday afternoon, covered much of the Greenwood area in ice, snow and sleet. Residents woke up Monday morning to about 2 to 2½ inches of sleet and ice with temperatures in the teens. The National Weather Service reports that the temperature will continue to drop Tuesday with a wind chill factor below zero at times. Here are some scenes of the winter storm.

A driver gets stuck temporarily Monday morning in the middle of the intersection of West Park Avenue and Medallion Drive in Greenwood. Roads throughout the region were nearly impassable from a couple of inches of a wintry mixture of sleet and snow.

Corbin White spreads salt during a sleet storm in an otherwise empty parking lot Monday morning at Regions Bank on West Park Avenue. White works for Turf Worx of Anniston, Alabama, which sent in a crew Sunday after lining up several snow and ice removal jobs.
