County Coroner Debra Sanders pronounced Terrance Dodd, 38, dead on Amanda Drive after she received a call from the Sheriff’s Department at 2:33 a.m.
Dodd died from multiple gunshot wounds, Sanders said. He had been in the Greenwood area for a few days visiting a friend.
Sheriff Ricky Banks said Wednesday that his department was working the case to determine what happened.
All but one of the county’s homicides this year have involved gun violence.
Since June 10, at least 10 shooting incidents have occurred in Greenwood and the area just beyond the city’s limits, according to authorities.
Two men — Jy’quavious Williams and Valdemir Beverly — died from two separate shootings last week.
Other shootings have left eight people injured.
