The Greenwood Police Department has charged two people, including a minor, with conspiracy to commit murder enhanced by street gang association, among other offenses.
Kyler Matthews, 15, of 1004 Clay St. was charged as a adult Tuesday and remained in the Leflore County Jail Friday. Bond was denied.
He is charged with conspiracy to commit murder, false identification and possession of a firearm by a minor.
Thony Coleman, 21, 7759 Nash Drive, Memphis, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, possession of marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was released on bonds totaling $51,500.
Deputy Police Chief Marvin Hammond declined to provide details on either arrest, saying that the investigation is ongoing. It was unclear whether the two arrests were related.
In August of last year, Matthews was charged by the Leflore County Sheriff’s Department with four counts of aggravated assault and accused of shooting several times into an occupied vehicle. Sheriff Ricky Banks said no one was hit.
Matthews was 14 at the time of the shooting.
