The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department has charged an 18-year-old man with a string of recent burglaries in Carrollton and North Carrollton.
Officers arrested John Hyde of Vardaman Wednesday and charged him with four counts of commercial burglary and one count of auto burglary.
Hyde is accused of burglarizing the Carrollton Library twice, breaking into the Carroll County Recreational Park’s concession stand twice and breaking into a vehicle — all over the past two weeks, Sheriff Clint Walker said.
Hyde is also being held in connection with a recent church burglary in Montgomery County.
Several TVs, about $200, weed trimmers and speaker equipment were taken. However, most of the stolen items were recovered during a search of Hyde’s residence on Montgomery Lane in North Carrollton, Walker said.
Hyde had recently turned 18 and moved from Vardaman to stay with some friends in North Carrollton, Walker said.
As of Thursday afternoon, Hyde was behind bars at the Carroll-Montgomery County Regional Correctional Facility. A hearing was scheduled for Friday morning, Walker said.
