As a kid captain, the 5-year-old will participate in the coin toss before the Rebels’ game against Southeastern Louisiana University. She is the daughter of Nicole and Lake Lindsey of Greenwood.

“She was excited. She knows that she gets to go out on the field and meet the football players,” Nicole Lindsey said.

Iva Beth has battled stage 4 germ cell cancer.

Now cancer-free, she previously underwent numerous chemotherapy treatments and surgeries to remove tumors in places such as her lower spine and adrenal gland.

Kids Captain is a program of Children’s of Mississippi, Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi. Children’s of Mississippi is the pediatric arm of the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The program celebrates pediatric patients by allowing them to be honored guests at the universities’ home football games.

“We’re just very honored,” Nicole Lindsey said. “We’re really excited to be going to Ole Miss. We’re really excited about the whole experience.”
