Greenwood police are investigating a shooting Tuesday afternoon on Avenue H.

“Nobody was injured or shot,” Police Chief Ray Moore said of the shooting.

He did say one vehicle was hit but also said, “We don’t believe the shot was intended for that vehicle.”

Another vehicle had to be towed after it hit a tree while the driver was trying to escape, the chief said.

According to Moore, officers received a call about the shooting around 12:30 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers cordoned off a section of Avenue H from Elm Street to Oak Street.

The shooting is believed to be the result of an argument between two people, ending when one person  pulled a gun and fired about four times, Moore said. The shooter was gone by the time officers arrived, he said.

“We’re still trying to sort through the confusion and basically find out what did go on and exactly who did the shooting,” Moore said.
