The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Vaiden man Wednesday while investigating several incidents of drive-by gunfire in that town.
Deputies served a warrant at a residence on Court Street Wednesday and arrested 21-year-old Ladaric Fleming, according to a statement released by the Sheriff’s Department.
During the past two months, there were three drive-by shootings in the Court Street area, Sheriff Clint Walker said. No one was reported hit, though several vehicles were, he said.
Fleming was arrested on a Circuit Court bench warrant for contempt of court. Depu-ties also seized a 9mm Glock handgun with a high-capacity magazine, marijuana and a digital scale, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
On May 13, deputies issued a search warrant at a different Court Street residence and seized an assault rifle, handgun and marijuana. No arrest was made, Walker said.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Fleming was behind bars in the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility.
Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 662-237-9238 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
