Black Hawk store robbery

Security camera footage shows the armed robbery of a Dollar General store in Black Hawk by a masked man on Sunday evening.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department is requesting the public’s help for information leading to the apprehension of a masked man, as well as possible accomplices, who robbed the Dollar General store in Black Hawk on Sunday evening.

Sheriff Clint Walker said in a statement that the Carroll County Emergency Operations Center received a call around 8 p.m. in reference to the robbery.

The caller told dispatchers that a black male wearing a mask resembling Jason, a character from the “Friday the 13th” horror film franchise, ran into the store with a gun. Walker said the man stole some money, but the sheriff would not disclose the amount.

The robber then left the store and ran to a getaway car parked across from the Dollar General, the caller said.

The caller described the car as a white Buick Century or possibly LeSabre, an early 2000s model, with dark tinted windows.

The vehicle did not have a tag, and it appeared that the paint on the top of the rear quarter panels was peeling off.  The vehicle was last seen on Mississippi 17, going south toward  Holmes County around 8:05 p.m., according to the caller.

A reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved.

All tips will remain anonymous.  Contact the Carroll County Sheriff at 662-237-9238 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
