A Greenwood woman was one of two people killed Monday in a head-on collision near Sidon.
Donna Jeane Norris, 71, was pronounced dead at the scene following the two-car accident before noon on U.S. 49 South, according to Leflore County Deputy Coroner Will Gnemi.
A person in the other vehicle died as well, but Sgt. Ronnie Shive, a spokesman for the Mississippi Highway Patrol, declined to identify the person pending notification of next of kin.
Shive provided no other immediate details about the accident.
Norris was driving alone in her SUV, according to a brother, Alex Malouf. He said she was headed toward Jackson for a doctor’s appointment and to visit with her four grandchildren.
Norris worked with her husband, Buster, at S&N Airoflo, a Greenwood-based manufacturer of aerators used in wastewater treatment plants. She was an active lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
She is also survived by two daughters and three other siblings.
