The Greenwood Country Club has hired Theodore “Ted” Roman as its new executive chef.

Roman, who started working during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, comes to the club with many accolades.

Along with over three decades in the hospitality field, he is a certified executive chef, an Arkansas Iron Chef Champion, a competitor and winner in multiple culinary competitions all over the country and a corporate chef trainer. He was also named the Club Corporation Executive Chef of the Year.

He is an experienced carver of fruit, cheese, chocolate and ice.

He said he knew when he was 15 years old that he wanted to be in the culinary business.

“I grew up in a Sicilian household,” Roman said. “Food was part of how we communicated.”

When he is not cooking, Roman enjoys spending time with his dogs, biking and being outdoors.

“Chef Roman’s 33 years of culinary experience and vast knowledge of multiple cuisines will elevate the dining experience of Greenwood Country Club’s membership,” the club said in a statement.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Roman is from a family of five sisters and two brothers. He has three daughters — Tylar, 28, Alyssa, 22, and Miranda, 21 — and a son, Thomas, 24.

He and his wife, Lori Roman, have been married for over 10 years.
