A Greenwood resident was treated Wednesday at Greenwood Leflore Hospital for a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Marko Hunter, 42, accidentally shot himself once in the lower part of his right leg with a .45 caliber handgun, Police Chief Ray Moore said.
Moore said the shooting occurred in the 200 block of Percy Street.
Officers received a call from the hospital about a gunshot victim at 10 a.m. Hunter’s mother transported her son to the hospital, the chief said.
When officers arrived at the hospital, Hunter told them he didn’t know who had shot him. But Moore said Hunter later admitted he had shot himself, though he declined to explain how.
Moore said Hunter may have initially refused to say he had shot himself because he is a convicted felon and can’t legally possess a weapon.
