Swanson United Methodist Church in Glendora, formerly Barwick United Methodist Church in Minter City, will begin holding services on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. When: Sunday school begins at 10 a.m., and worship begins at 11 a.m.  The church is at 39 Gipson Ave.

First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 106th anniversary. When: 11:30 a.m.

New Beginnings Church of Holiness will have an appreciation program for Evangelist Peggy Jones. When/where: 2 p.m. in the Jodie Wilson Library Auditorium. Details: Evangelist Wondrietta Crockett will speak.

Second Chance Outreach Ministries in Itta Bena will have a fourth-anniversary appreciation program for its pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jerry Crockett, and his wife, Gloria. When: 2 p.m. Details: Bishop Eddie Young of Hayward Chapel M.B. Church in Money will speak.

The Greenwood-Leflore Ministerial Association will hold its annual community Thanksgiving service. When/where: 6 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Details:  This year’s service will feature the Rev. Dr. Scott Wright of St. John's United Methodist Church as preacher, with  singing led by the St. Francis choir.  Pastors from around the community will lead the prayers, and a collection will be taken up for the Community Kitchen.

Strangers’ Home Missionary Baptist Church will feature the Rev. Detoneal Cook of Austin, Texas, son of Willie R. Cook of Greenwood, as preacher at its morning service. When: 11 a.m.

Providence Missionary Baptist Church’s Fashion Extravaganza Committee will have its 10th “Night of Elegance” fashion show. When: 5 p.m. Details: Donation: $5.

Friday, December 6

Body of Christ Fellowship Church will have a 35th-anniversary appreciation program for its pastor, Bishop Willie Henderson, and his wife, Zandra, and church anniversary program. When: 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6  and 11 a.m. Dec. 8. Details: Evangelist Gwendolen Moore and Pastor Marshethe Thomas will speak Dec. 6, and Pastors Alfred Thomas and Mary Carter will speak Dec. 8.

St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Winona will have an eighth-anniversary appreciation program for its pastor, the Rev. J.C. Stokes, and his wife, Lurean.  When: 11  a.m. Details: The Rev. Marlon Stokes from Sierra Vista, Arizona, will speak.

Marilyn Jones-Bryant Ministries will celebrate its 11th anniversary. When/where: 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Greenwood Youth Center, 926 West Henry St. Details: The guest evangelists will be Minister Jocelyn Steele-Latham of Grenada at the 11 a.m. service and Evangelist Okema White of Ruleville at the 2 p.m. service. White serves as the praise and worship leader, youth minister, and executive director of the Caring Hands Food Pantry of Sweet Home Church of God in Christ in Itta Bena. Marilyn Jones-Bryant Ministries (MJB) also has a new name, Bethesda Five Points Center, Ministries of H.O.P.E. Refreshments will be served between services. No Sunday school.
