The Department of Fine Arts at Mississippi Valley State University will hold a senior art exhibition opening reception, featuring works by graduating seniors Angel Lett and Michelle Hart. When: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Where: Johnston Gallery, located in the Walter Sillers Fine Arts Center.

Leflore County MSU Extension Service Office will hold Quick Bites program “Tis the Season.” When: Noon. Where: Leflore County MSU Extension Service Office, 309 W. Market St. Details: Lynette McDougald will provide tips on holiday decorating. Holiday designs will include evergreens, faux fruit and other materials. She will create a base that will last throughout the season so that fresh items can be moved in and out.

Leflore Rehabilitation will hold a Professional Health Fair and Community Open House. When: 3-6 p.m. Where: Leflore Rehabilitation, third floor of Greenwood Leflore Hospital. Details: The public is invited to tour the inpatient rehab facility and celebrate the holiday season. Free blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings will be available. The Harrison Delta Community Singers will present a Christmas concert. When: 6 p.m. Where: Wesley United Methodist Church, 800 Howard St. Details: The concert theme is “A Musical Celebrating the Birth of Christ, Who was Born to Save the World.” Songs will be performed in a variety of styles, such as traditional, classical, spiritual and contemporary gospel. This event is sponsored by the Wesley United Methodist Women’s Ministry.

Greenwood Little Theatre will hold auditions for “The Outsiders.” When: 3-5 p.m. Where: Craig Performing Arts Center on the campus of Pillow Academy. Details: Roles include 10 males (ages 15 to 25) and six females (ages 15 to 21). The few adult roles will be cast within the production crew of the play. All those trying out should read the classic book “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton or watch the movie prior to auditions. Production dates are March 26-29.

First Presbyterian Church will present the 39th annual Singing Christmas Tree. When: 7 p.m. Where: The parking lot across from First Presbyterian Church at the corner of Main and Washington streets. Details: There will be 100 singers on the tree, which features about 1,500 lights. Bleacher seating is provided. In case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 16. Cherokee Rose Garden Club will hold its Christmas open house. When: 5-7:30 p.m. Details: Houses that will be open for this year’s tour include the home of Suzanna Mullins, the home of Patty Beck and the Vance House (Barry and Debbie Bordelon). Also included in this year’s open house is a tour of the Christmas trees on display at the Masonic Lodge in Carrollton. Refreshments will be provided. Tickets can be purchased at the mayor’s office at Carrollton Town Hall.
