GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) — A 12-year-old boy has died of a gunshot wound to the head and a 16-year-old boy faces a murder charge in the shooting.

The Greenwood Commonwealth reports Jordan Lloyd died Monday after being shot Saturday while playing with friends in the backyard of a house close to his home.

About 90 people from the neighborhood gathered Wednesday at a community center to celebrate Jordan's life. His mother, Jasmine Vance, says her child is "going to be missed." His family and friends described the seventh-grader as a sweet kid, who was always playing.

Vance says a community funeral for Jordan will be held Sunday, March 24, at 2 p.m. in the Leflore County Civic Center.

Meanwhile, the suspect is being held without bond at the Leflore County jail.
