Three Greenwood-area prep baseball teams combined to go 0-5 this past week in a limited schedule.

Greenwood High opened its 2019 campaign with a 17-2 loss to Gentry High School Friday at Whittington Park. The Bulldogs, who had the first five games on their schedule postponed because of the weather, play host to Clarksdale on March 19. Greenwood is on spring break this week.

Carroll Academy dropped to 2-4 overall with losses to Central Holmes and Benton. Last Thursday, the Rebels lost 11-1 to District 1-AA foe Central Holmes, and then fell 8-7 at Benton Academy Friday. Carroll was scheduled to play at Clarksdale Lee Monday, but that game was pushed back to Tuesday. The two teams will play a doubleheader in Clarksdale, weather permitting, with the first game starting at 1 p.m.

Leflore County played a pair of Region 2-2A games at Eupora High School Friday. The Eagles won the first game 15-0 as they held Leflore to a lone single by Kevon Birdlong, who also took the loss on the mound to slip to 0-3. In the second game, Eupora came out on top 14-0 as it scored six runs in the first, two runs each in the second and fourth frames and four in the third. Kewon Wylie (0-2) got the loss for the Tigers, who fall to 0-5 overall. Leflore visits Elzy on March 20.

Pillow Academy was scheduled to play a pair of games in the Central Holmes Tournament Monday, but those games have been pushed back to Tuesday. The Mustangs (3-1) will play the host team at 11 a.m. and take on Benton at 1 p.m.

J.Z. George has not been able to play since March 2 because of the weather or wet grounds. The Jaguars don’t play this week but return March 18 with a doubleheader at McAdams High School.

Amanda Elzy (2-1) has the week off and returns March 18 at Gentry. The Panthers have three other games on the schedule next week as they entertain Yazoo County March 19 and host Leflore on March 20. They go to Ruleville on March 22.
