Pillow Academy’s record on the baseball diamond slipped to 1-1 on the young season with a 5-1 loss at Heritage Academy Tuesday in Columbus.
The Mustangs actually outhit the Patriots 6-5 but had little to show for it in the end. PA committed an error and allowed three unearned runs.
Pillow’s only run was also unearned as Heritage committed three errors.
Heritage took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when JR Lott was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The Patriots, who were credited with six stolen bases, added two runs in the third and two more in the fifth. The Mustangs scored their lone run in the top of the fifth.
Cole Ketchum got the win for Heritage. He went five innings and surrendered one run on five hits over five innings, striking out three. Banks Hyde hurled two scoreless innings in relief.
Eli Simmons paced PA at the plate with a 3-for-4 outing, including a double, with an RBI.
Nolan Marshall took the loss on the hill for Pillow, allowing zero hits and one run over one-third of an inning, while walking one.
Gavin Lessley, Jacob Bush and Sam Harris each had a single for the Mustangs, who are scheduled to play West Bolivar at home Thursday.
