Leflore County’s Kevon Birdlong comes home to score during an 11-1 victory over McAdams on Monday.

Pillow Academy got back on the winning track as it posted a 5-2 win over Winona Christian School Monday in Winona.

The Mustangs (8-2-1) led 2-0 after the second inning and tacked on three runs in the top of the fifth frame. Winona Christian plated its two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Lawes McCool pitched a complete game for Pillow, allowing two earned runs on three hits, striking out seven. He also contributed at the plate with a single and two RBIs.

Sam Harris had two singles, drove in one run and scored once, while Gavin Lessley had two hits and scored a pair of runs. Eli Simmons, Matthew Jefcoat and Jacob Bush had a single each. Nelson Hodges scored two runs.

Pillow entertains Lee Academy Thursday at 6 p.m. A junior varsity game will be played at 4 p.m.

n Leflore County: The Tigers did two things Monday — they won their first game of the season and played their first home contest of 2019.

Leflore knocked off visiting McAdams High School 20-10 to move to 1-11 overall. The Tigers played at Region 2-2A foe North Side High School Tuesday in a pair of games.

Kewon Wylie (1-3) worked four innings in relief to earn the win. He allowed just one run on three hits, walking none and striking out four. Xavier Mitchell started for Leflore, going one inning, yielding nine runs on five hits, walking five and fanning one.

Kevon Birdlong had a banner day at the plate with a double, triple, two-run homer and six RBIs. Jordan Stewart had a double, triple and RBI, and DeQuarionne Jones had a triple and drove in two runs.

Derrick Singleton, Mitchell and Kamar Buck all had RBI doubles, and Dekari Johnson and Wylie had a double each.

n J.Z. George: Central Holmes jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning en route to a 15-5 victory over the Jaguars Monday in Lexington.

Central Holmes tacked on nine runs in the second frame, and one run each in the third and fourth innings. The Jags scored a single run in the third and four in the fourth.

Jacob Johnson and Michael Bankston had a single each for J.Z. George, which falls to 3-11 overall. Athan Shute and Robbie Clunan had an RBI each, and Johnson, Clunan, Brandon McKenzie, Nathan Carpenter and Lance Mullen scored a run apiece.

Shute took the loss on the mound as he went three innings, allowing 14 runs on 11 hits, walking three and fanning one. WilTavious Williams got two outs in the fourth but not before allowing one run on one hit, walking one.

J.Z. George, which played host to Charleston Tuesday, entertains Holmes County Central Wednesday at 4 p.m.
