Pillow Academy junior Jacob Bush slides head-first safely into home plate against Bayou Academy Wednesday at Pillow. The Mustangs won 11-1 to improve to 9-2-1. 

Eli Simmons and Lake Giachelli combined to throw a three-hitter as Pillow Academy posted an 11-1 win over visiting Bayou Academy Wednesday.

Simmons (1-0) worked the first four innings for the win as he allowed just one hit and struck out six. Giachelli pitched the final two frames to earn the save. He gave up one run on two hits, walking one and fanning three.

Pillow scored two runs in the first, three in the third, one in the fourth and five in the sixth.

At the plate for Pillow (9-2-1), Giachelli and Shane Houston Stephens drove in two runs apiece. Giachelli had a single, double, drew two walks and scored one run. Stephens had a single and scored one time.

Simmons and Sam Harris had an RBI each with Harris collecting a single. Gavin Lessley had a single, two walks and scored three runs, and Lawes McCool had a single. Jacob Bush had a single and scored a run, and Nelson Hodges scored four runs.

n J.Z. George: The Jaguars moved one step closer to qualifying for the playoffs with a doubleheader sweep of Ruleville Central in North Carrollton Wednesday.

In the first contest, J.Z. George won 16-7 as it scored three runs in the first, one in the fourth, 10 in the fifth and two in the sixth. Ruleville scored one run each in the second, third and sixth frames, and two each in the fourth and fifth innings.

Michael Bankston, the fourth Jaguar pitcher, went two innings to earn the win and improve to 3-2. He allowed two runs on two hits, walking one and fanning six. Nathan Carpenter started on the mound but did not complete the first inning. He had one walk. Athan Shute worked three innings, allowing two runs on three hits, walking two and striking out seven.

WilTavious Williams went one inning, allowing two runs on four walks with one strikeout. Kendrick Head got the final two outs, walking three and fanning two.

Head led the way at the plate with two doubles, a single, two RBIs and two runs scored. Jacob Johnson had two singles, two RBIs and scored twice, and Robbie Clunan had a single, double, RBI and run scored.

Bankston chipped in a double, RBI and scored three runs, and Shute scored three runs. Carpenter, Josh May and Williams scored a run each.

In the second game, J.Z. George (6-12 overall, 3-4 in Region 3-3A) came out on top 16-5 as Lance Mullen (1-1) got the win. He worked three innings, yielding three runs on one hit, walking four and striking out eight. Shute started on the mound, lasting one inning, allowing one run on two hits, walking one and fanning two.

Shute collected two singles and a double, drove in three runs and scored three times. Head had a single, double, scored three times and drove in a pair, while Johnson had two singles, an RBI and scored three runs. Brandon McKenzie had a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Clunan had a single, two RBIs and scored one run.
