West President Church of Christ will host a gospel meeting featuring speaker Adam Miller. When: Morning worship will be at 10:30, evening worship will be at 6 p.m., and services will continue at 7 p.m. Monday-Wednesday. Details: Miller is pulpit minister for the Plain Dealing Church of Christ in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, and has conducted mission work in Tanzania, St. Vincent and New Mexico, in addition to preaching in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Jennings Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will have its annual Missionary Day program. When: 10:45 a.m. Details: Alanda Travillion, a member of the church, will speak.

Salem Missionary Baptist Church will have Youth and Young Adult Day. When: 11 a.m. Details: The speakers will be Lennie Stevenson, Justin Stevenson and Angel Dixon, members of the church and graduating seniors at Greenwood High School. The theme is “Youth and Young Adults Using Praise as Their Weapon” (2 Chronicles 20:15-24). Youths and young adults are invited to help form a mass choir. The rehearsal will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, and the colors will be light blue and white.

Acona United Methodist Church will have its 142nd annual homecoming. When: 11 a.m. Details: The Rev. Andy Ray will speak, and Billie Jean Beard and her daughter, Clancy, will provide special music. Bonita Webb will be the pianist. Food and fellowship will follow at the Acona School Community House.

First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church will have its Family and Friends Day program. When: 11:30 a.m.

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church will sell dinners in its dining hall. When: 11:30. Details: The menu will include baked chicken, dressing, early peas, field peas, macaroni, rolls, sweet potato pie, cake and a drink. All plates are $7.

Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church will have Usher Day. When: 2 p.m. Details: Corie Phinesse, a member of the church, will speak.  

The Chapel of Mercy at Locus Benedictus will hold a prayer service on the Feast of Divine Mercy. When: 3 p.m.

Revival on the River, a Christian music festival, will be held. When/where: 3 to 9 p.m. in the park between the bridges. Details: Admission is free, and there will be inflatables for the children. Performers will include Chosen Generation Ministries, the Greenwood Church of God Praise Team, Men of Zion, Everything Glorious, the St. John’s Youth Praise Team & The Believers, The Collins Family, the Westminster Praise Team, Reagan Daniels and Creation Symphony, Thomas Toole and Encounter Worship.

Friday, April 28

Holmes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will have its annual women’s conference. When: 7:30 p.m. Details: Charlotte McGowan, Evangelist Mary Beckem and Pastor Elaine Gray will speak.

Saturday, April 29

New Green Grove Church of Faith will have its annual women’s conference. When: 8:30 a.m. to noon. Details: Dell Walker, senior minister of the church, will speak. The theme is “Use Your Weapons to Break Every Chain” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Registration will be from 8:30 to 9 a.m. The cost is $10, which includes lunch.

Locust Grove Missionary Baptist Church will offer health screenings. When: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Details: Participants will be screened for blood pressure, BMI, cholesterol and glucose, and heights and weights will be measured. There also will be educational sessions on prevention, treatment and control of hypertension and information on how to manage diabetes and chronic disease.

Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church will have its annual Youth Day celebration. When: 11 a.m. Details: The theme will be “Christian Youth: Being the Best We Can Be, Because God Sees the Best in Me.” The Scripture will be Hebrews 12:1-13. The speakers will be Kaliesha Cage, a graduating senior at Greenwood High School, and Ebony Lofton, a graduating senior at Amanda Elzy High School. The colors will be yellow, navy blue and khaki. Practices will be held at 10 a.m. April 29 and 10 a.m. May 6.

Black Hawk Baptist Church will have revival services. When: 7 p.m. May 8-10. Details: Speakers will be: May 8, Terry Corley; May 9, Larry Edwards; and May 10, Roy Bush. Benny Rigby will lead the music, and Joy Winters will play piano.

Community Baptist Church will have a “Praise in the Park, Saving Souls for Christ” rally. When/where: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McLaurin Street Park.

Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church will present “A Weekend for Mom.” When: Noon May 13-14. Details: Single mothers will be recognized May 13 for their efforts raising young people.  Lunch will be provided, and tokens of appreciation will be given out.  On May 14, there will be a Mother’s Day fun festival for all mothers. All activities are free.
