Community Baptist Church will celebrate Servant’s Day. When: 3 p.m. Details: The guest speaker will be Maj. Jerry Carter, North Region administrator for the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and a member of New Zion M.B. Church. He is a Morgan City native and graduate of Leflore County High School and will graduate from Mississippi Valley State University in May with a degree in criminal justice. He worked for the Mississippi Department of Corrections for two years before joining what was then named the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Conservation in 1988. He was the first black conservation officer in Leflore County and later became the first black lieutenant and the first black captain. He oversees the day-to-day operations of 30 counties and about 70 conservation officers.  

St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Winona will have its spring revival. When: 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday-Tuesday. Details: The guest speaker will be Rev. James C. Williams of San Antonio. He is the author of “The Constitution of the Kingdom of Heaven: An Expositional Commentary on the Sermon on the Mount.”  He will be available for book sales and signing.  

Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church will have its annual spring revival. When: 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Details: The Rev. William Morris, pastor of Locust Grove M.B. Church and Spring Hill M.B. Church, will speak.

Monday, April 9

Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Coila will have its spring revival. When: 7 p.m. Monday-Friday. Details: Pastor Ozell Landfair Jr. of Bear Marsh M.B. Church will speak.

Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church will have revival. When: 7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Details: The church’s pastor, the Rev. Sammy L. Townes, will preach Monday and Tuesday, and the Rev. Timothy Hughes of Southaven will preach Wednesday through Friday.

Thursday, April 12

Greater Harvest Worship Center will have its homecoming and 38th-anniversary celebration. When: 7:30 p.m. April 12-13 and 11:15 a.m., 5 p.m and 7:30 p.m. April 15. Details: The theme will be “Growing Stronger, Soaring Higher and Progressing Forward” (Isaiah 40:31). Sunday, April 15

Samuel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will have its 50th State Pageant. When: 11 a.m.

Payne Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will have a 12th-anniversary celebration for its pastor, the Rev. James Clinton, and his wife, Lorene. When: 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Details: Minister Charles Montgomery of Rosehill M.B. Church in Lexington will speak at the morning service, and Pastor Clarence Johnson of Greater New Home M.B. Church in Quito will speak in the afternoon.

DeCell United Methodist Church will have its annual Men’s Day. When: 3 p.m. Details: The Rev. Kenneth Milton, assistant pastor of New Zion M.B. Church, will speak. Men are also invited to participate in the mass choir, which will rehearse at 7 p.m. April 13 at the church.
