Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church will have its annual Men’s Ministries Day program. When:  Sabbath School will be at 9:15 a.m., and worship will be at 11 a.m. Details: Pastor Java Mattison, publishing director of the South Central Conference of Seventh Day Adventists, will speak. Lunch will be provided after the service, and Pastor Mattison will conduct a seminar after the luncheon.

Sunday, August 19

Locust Grove Missionary Baptist Church, along with the Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation, the Greenwood Community and Recreation Center and the Men in Black and Blue will honor 25 young men for their educational and/or career achievements. When: 8 a.m.

Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Money will have its annual Youth Day. When: 10:45 a.m. Details: Essence Stovall, a senior at Greenwood High School, will speak. The colors will be pink, white and navy blue. Rehearsal will be at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Jones Chapel No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church will have its annual Mother’s Ministry Day. When: 11 a.m. Details: Pastor Leroy Williams will speak.

Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church will have its 164th anniversary celebration and homecoming. When: 11:30 a.m. Details: Minister Maurice Warren of Memphis will speak.

Jones Chapel No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 110th anniversary. When: 11:30 a.m. Details: The Rev. David Henderson, the church’s pastor, will speak.

The Lebanon District Women’s Auxiliary will have a “Parade of States” program. When/where: 3 p.m. at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Tchula.

The Heavenly Voices 17th-anniversary celebration will be held. When/where: 4 p.m. at the Leflore County Civic Center.

Steadfast Church of God in Christ will have Youth Conference 2018. When: 7 p.m. Aug. 22-24. Details: The topic will be “A Mission From God: Repent Now” (Mark 1:14-15).

Saturday, August 25

New Green Grove Church of Faith will hold its annual women’s conference. When: Registration starts at 8 a.m. Details: Workshop topics will include “Mental Illness/Suicide,” led by Phylandria Hudson; “Spiritual Wellness,” led by Shakevia Lumas; “Health and Wellness,” led by Dr. Kimberly Sandford; “Division in the Church,” led by Sheriel Perkins; “Domestic Violence,” led by Minister Dorothy Glass; and “Discovering Your True Identity,” led by LaFonda Brown. Bear Marsh Missionary Baptist Church in Carrollton will hold its annual Men’s Day. When: 2 p.m. Details: The Rev. Jerrold Greenwood, pastor of One Church Christian Fellowship of West Point, will speak. The theme is “Be a Man.” The mass rehearsal will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 25. The colors will be black, red and white.

Lockalonia Missionary Baptist Church in Money will have Men’s and Women’s Day. When: 3 p.m. Details: The Rev. Willie E. Brown, pastor of McKinney Chapel M.B. Church in Greenwood, will speak, and the Greenwood Male Choir will be the special guests.

New Pillow Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its  113th anniversary. When: 2:30 p.m. Details: The Rev. Joe Hodges of Paxton Grove in Inverness will speak.

Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church will have its annual Men’s and Women’s Day. When: 3 p.m. Details: The Rev. Derrick Williams, pastor of St. John M.B. Church in Webb, will speak. Men and women are invited to help form a mass choir, which will rehearse at 7 p.m. Aug. 28. The colors will be brown and gold.

House of Prayer and Praise New Life Community Church will celebrate its 20th anniversary. When: 7 p.m. Sept. 7 and 4 p.m. Sept. 9. Details: The theme is “Celebrating The Faithfulness Of God,” and the theme verse is Psalms 89:24. The guest speaker for Sept. 7 will be Apostle Ethel Johnson of Chief Cornerstone in Lexington, and the guest speaker for Sept. 9 will be Apostle Eric Martin of Anointed Prophetic Ministries in Sardis.

Second Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, east of Sidon, will have its annual Men and Women’s Day. When: 2:30 p.m. Details: The theme is “What Will You Be Doing When Jesus Comes?” The speakers will be Pastor Iva W. Dixon of Greater Union Outreach Ministry in Lexington and Deacon Kevin Jackson of Providence M.B. Church in Greenwood. Deacon Fredrick Hearn of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Carrollton will be the guest soloist. The colors will be aqua, turquoise or royal blue, brown and ivory. Dinner will be served immediately afterward.
